Bill updates 3.23.08

The Ides of March (add a few days) has come and gone and the fate of some bills in the Mass. Legislature has been decided. Due to everyone's good work we have some positive results.

You should know that when a bill is killed for the session, the term (very civilized) in the Mass. Legislature is that it is "sent to study."
So off to study, thankfully,  went the following bad bills which we have opposed:

H.3841 - Rep. Callahan - Create a Division of Animal Protection
S 235  Sen. Tisei License Pet Groomers
S1787 Sen. Resor Dog and Cat "overpopulation" fund
H3477 (Rep. Fennell) Transportation of Animals in cars

The following was supported by a lot of dog owners, but it too, went to the great round file that is "study."

H957 Availability of Insurance for Homeowners with dogs

The fate of a bunch of the bills in the Judiciary committee has been decided, but the rsearcher said the results will not be available probably until next week. I also have a call in  to Municipalities, but have not gotten a call back. They have all the Dangerous Dog bills and the shelter bill.  I'll keepyou posted as I know!
